A Dream Island Vacation

When talking about vacation, I always dream of going to a beach even it is a commercialized one but at least with preserved natural resources. I love beaches because I grew up close to one. I remember going to the nearby beach resort after school with some classmates just to feel the fresh air and unwind sometimes. Now that I am away from home, I do not have that chance anymore. But I am still looking forward to visit one sooner because I am very fond of beaches not only of the calmness it gives, but most importantly, the beauty in it.

One place everyone dreams of travelling is in Hawaii because the beaches are very natural. You can research more Hawaii Vacation Info in the net to see what this tourist destination can offer. Sometimes we have to treat ourselves with a vacation out of our ordinary lives to release stress and of course to have fun once in a while. Like, maybe having a Maui Vacation Rentals could make our break more exciting and remarkable. Hawaii is also known for their rich culture and amazing people that definitely could make an island vacation complete.

He is into Web Hosting

I had a chat with a friend of mine yesterday and it’s been so long since the last time I heard from him. We were classmates in college but never practice his profession as a nurse. I was really glad to see him after like four years or so. I was telling him that I have a nursing blog and that I hope he could visit it. But I was amazed when he told me he is into web hosting. I remember that he was really interested with computer and all that stuff even way back college and I was glad he finally find his way to get what his heart desires.

So, I had the opportunity to ask him about web hosting and never thought that I even sounded like an idiot with my questions! (lol) But I am really glad to see him again and became the man he wanted to be. I recall that young and nice boy whom we always bugged before to do all the encoding with our case presentation final report. And here he is in front of me, same person yet definitely, a successful one.

From Tank Top to Bridal Gown!

Since I was in grade school I really like customizing my old shirts and jeans. I felt pleasure whenever I had created something called an “artwork” even most of the time I just hanged my creations on the walls of my room.

I remember too, during my college years we used to create T-shirt design for our foundation day and it was one of the fun memories I always remember. Until now, I kept some of my favourite customized shirt that we did. But lately, not only personalized shirts are being adored by many. There are also customized bags, flip flops, shoes and even undies or bikinis! And it is really great to express feelings and personality to this kind of trend.

If I was just using paints and buttons to put a spark on my jeans before, today there are a lot of materials that can be utilized to make a fashion statement! Well, of course if you are really looking for more cool designs like having some crystals on it, then there are experts on that. Try Custom Crystal Attire at AdvantageBridal.com. I have seen lots of exclusive designs on their website for any occasion or mood. From glittered tank tops to bridal gown creation, anything you can think that can be jazz-up is there. Whether for a gift to your love ones or just for personal use, you are assured that your satisfaction is what they are up to.

Meeting You!

January 17 is my dad's birthday. I greeted him and wished him good health. At the same time this was also the day I met someone I knew technically from the virtual world. Actually, he is a close friend of my best friend Gold. She is the one who introduced me to him thru ym. He is a nurse working in Miami and also from Davao City. He is here for his vacation. He purposely came in Makati just to meet me and I was flattered. But deep within I was fearful of what impression he might have of me. I am not good on this meeting thing though I always try to be myself. I don't have that confidence that someone might like me or my personality. I know I should not think about anything like that but I can't help it. I guess I am just good in pleasing other people than having other person pleased me. I hate attention. I don't want to be the center of it. I wanted to be just someone behind that stage curtain. A supporting actress perhaps.

I really appreciated the great effort he put into just to see the real person behind that candid photos in my friendster account or that face which my friend Gold had been put into exaggerated words. Curious he may be, I hope I did made him see the real me.

Which is Better? QWERTY or DVORAK?

Did you know that there is another useful keyboard lay out than QWERTY? It is called as DVORAK. According to wikipedia DVORAK is a keyboard layout patented in 1936 by Dr. August Dvorak, an educational psychologist and professor of education[1] at the University of Washington in Seattle, [2] and William Dealey as an alternative to the more common QWERTY layout. It has also been called the Simplified Keyboard or American Simplified Keyboard, but is commonly known as the Dvorak keyboard or Dvorak layout.

Although the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard ("DSK") has so far failed to displace the QWERTY standard, it has seen an increase in popularity in recent years especially among computer programmers and others whose jobs require them to do extensive amounts of typing. It has become easier to access in the computer age, being included with all major operating systems (such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD) in addition to the standard QWERTY layout. It is also supported at the hardware level by some high-end ergonomic keyboards.

I have been practicing DVORAK right now and of course it is not easy to switch from the usual QWERTY layout. But I noticed that less than a month my wpm is increasing and almost surpasses my QWERTY speed or wpm. It also helped me to be a touch typist because in the first place most of the computer keyboard layouts are in QWERTY so I need to memorized the DVORAK layout because the only thing I can change is the setting. It has been proven that persons who shifted from QWERTY to DVORAK typed faster or even doubled their speeds.

If you want to try DVORAK, change your language setting. Go to CONTROL PANEL click REGIONAL AND LANGUAGE OPTION select the LANGUAGE tab click DETAILS then click ADD check KEYBOARD LAYOUT select UNITED STATES DVORAK. Then try it...

Here is what DVORAK layout looks like:

Puzzled with a PUZZLE!

I had a final job interview yesterday (after that whole day english tests, essays, and a loooot more!) with the assistant training officer. I wanted to try working in an environment which is new to my profession (I will keep it a secret for now... :-) ). Anyways, the interview went well but he had given me (actually all of those he interviewed) my last test. And my gosh! It was a mechanical puzzle and he wanted me to solve it. I really tried thinking hard and I felt that my brain cells started to swell! Honestly, I never had that kind of puzzle before, all I know was a jigsaw and a picture puzzles! Well, I just pretended that I had some solution in my mind well in fact, I have no damn idea how to remove that ring placed in between a handcuffs!

To have an idea, here is the picture of the mechanical puzzle he let me try to solved: [...] Well, until I gave up. I guess I look so idiot in front of him and he solved it by hiding his hands under the table to keep me from seeing the solution. And he showed me that the two items were separated and then he returned the ring again in between the handcuffs. I was so curious with the solution so I searched it on the Internet and I felt dumb knowing how easy that f****** puzzle to solve! Click here to see the solution. My gosh! I was ashamed thinking how the other applicant solved it as I heard her telling it to her friend who was waiting for her at the reception area. Hahaha!

In the end, I am glad to discover that kind of challenge. At least I learned something new yesterday. And by the way, in case you want to know, I was hired and soon I will be starting to work with them, if I wont change my mind... -:)

teaching myself (X)HTML

I know what is COPD,CRF, MI and most of medical abbreviations but how about HTML, XHTML, CSS? I had been using a computer for more than a decade now, but as I am familiar with its basic uses, I want to learn more and more and discover the very useful and unique part of it. What makes me read this book is my creative side. I want to have a unique page, I want to create some templates in the future for blogger. For so many years, I focused myself a lot with my career as a nurse. I tried Operating room, Delivery room, Paediatrics, I became a school nurse and presently as a Clinical Instructor. Now, I want something new to learn. Something outside my world. Well, its the Computer Age now! Technology is getting better and better! So I must keep up with that. Learning only the basic use of computer would not be enough in the near future so better get started now. All web pages are written with some form of HTML which lets you format text, add sound, graphics, videos etc., which is written on some form (code) that only the computer can read. HTML means HyperText Markup Language. Its free, it is available to all, but you have to learn and understand it. Not all of the users experience it in the same way. What I mean is that the speed of your connection, type of the computer, monitor, browser, etc. will make a different outcomes although in general computers can read HTML.

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets originally is used to recreate the HTML effects. But CSS is more useful now as the newer version came out, you can position elements on your web page with precision and style. As I understand HTML is like your template, and how you drag one element to another in your template to satisfy your eyes when you click the preview, is CSS. Lucky for us new users that the template and element arrangements are already preset and easy to use. But it is only limited. That is why you need to know some background in making web pages by using basic HTML. Due to unsatisfaction on what HTML can do, they created a new version of HTML which is the Extensible Markup Language or XML. It is a language for creating other languages. It uses a lot of punctuations which is more complicated to use than HTML. As I understood, it can makes you open another task for another purpose as easy as you can't imagine.

Millions of People are using and familiar with HTML, so what they did, not to confused the users was they rewrote HTML to XHTML( Extensible HyperText Markup Language). It's a combination of both worlds! It is a perfect foundation for CSS!

Yup, sounds weird for me. But I must admit that I often encounter these abbreviations and I don't give importance to it. But the more I ignore it, the more it pops up in front of me! So I better learn to face it. Slowly I understand these "foreign language" and I hope in due time I can post some new, exciting, unique template for your web pages!
